Businesses Consolidate & Focus on Specialized Products

 

Custom Packaging & Manufacturing (CP&M) is merging with ARK Manufacturing. The move will allow shared efficiences in manufacturing for a variety of products, and combined service delivery. CP&M is relocating its operations to 4080 Reed Rd. SE #110 in Salem.

 

ARK Manufacturing has streamlined it's product line to focus primarily on safety wear, specialized K9 Items for law enforcement, and propietary receiver collars for wireless dog fences. Previous items made of leather and nylon-web for pets and livestock have been discontinued. By specializing in fewer items, the inventory supply, workspace areas, support services, management and worker effeciency will be optomized.

 

CP&M will continue production of HVAC air filters, as well as assembly of bolts & fasteners for IFI Corp., DNA kits for Oregon State Poice and Oregon Lottery machine cleaning.

 

A new contract for PPG Industries has already begun at the Reed Road location. Crews comprised of the merged workforce are making custom shipping dividers for large glass panels.

 

"We are very excited to complete this merger," said Teri Marsh, Shangri-La Employment Services Director. "People will have the opportunity to learn new skills on diverse contracts, keep working on the jobs they enjoy, and get the chance to meet new people."

 

ARK Manufacturing currently employes people under a specialized workforce model. By providing additional workplace supports and accomodations for people with documented disabilities, individuals with barriers to conventional jobs are able to remained employed. When the merger is complete at the end of June, Shangri-La's manufacturing business will employ over 50 people with disabilities.
